Acts of Service, Echoes in Eternity

Luke 16:19-31
25 “But Abraham said to him, ‘Son, remember that during your lifetime you had everything you wanted, and Lazarus had nothing. So now he is here being comforted, and you are in anguish.”
Jesus challenges us with a question: "Does the way you treat others reflect how much you love Me?"

I have a serving heart. When someone's hurting, I feel the Holy Spirit whispering, "They need help." Maybe I offer to do their laundry when they're overwhelmed, or make a meal during tough times. Sometimes it's a hug or “thinking of you” text - small reminders that they matter to God and to me.

My life hasn't exactly been gentle. I carry my share of bruises, but my broken pieces help me recognize pain in others. I've learned to use my shattered fragments as stepping stones to reach aching hearts because bringing joy to others is worth every scar I carry. Some question my motives or ignore me. Those rejections hurt, especially when all I wanted was to show God's love. I remember Jesus—He served endlessly, faced doubt and ridicule. Still, His love never wavered.

God places "Lazarus-moments" in our path every day. Like at the gas station, when someone asks for gas money. Years ago, cynicism made me say no without hesitation. Now, I offer to pay for their gas directly at the pump. Their response isn't what matters—what matters is that I showed up with God's love.

These moments aren’t accidents—they’re divine “on purposes” where Jesus watches how we respond to the Lazarus at our gate. It’s about helping others out of our love for God, even when no one sees or applauds. Don’t be like the rich man—don’t overlook those right in front of you. Love well. Serve well. Because eternity matters.
