Tread A Path
Kaleigh Hoschar

“Since we are surrounded by so many examples of faith we must get rid of everything that slows us down, especially sin that distracts us. We must run the race that lies ahead of us and never give up.”
Hebrews 12:1

I remember one day I was driving along route 235 when I noticed an accident on the other side of the road.

Now… we all know that turning your head to look at an accident while driving is completely irresponsible.. You risk creating another one!

But being 20, thinking I was relatively invincible, I turned my head to look out of curiosity. Internally grateful that my car was not in a ditch and thinking my day was not that bad.

When I turned my head back to the front, 30mph felt like 60mph and I was headed straight towards a car that had completely stopped. I slammed on my breaks, my tires squealed, ABS kicked in and I managed to stop an inch from the car in front of me.

I was so busy being distracted that I lost focus on what was ahead. I could have caused a lot of harm in my inability to remain focused. I was comparing the state of my day to someone else’s on the road and it almost cost everyone dearly.

Stay focused, Church. This place we temporarily call “home” is BENT on turning our heads. With charged Facebook rants, news outlet scandals and everyday strife within our world.

Don’t let it slow you down.
Don’t look back or compare yourself to the sides of the road.

You were MADE to tread your own unique path that the Lord has set before you. Keep your eyes set on what is ahead and never give up!
