Paralysis of Analysis

Monday, January 6th
Paralysis of Analysis
Pastor Chris Wood

I used to think I was a laid-back and chill guy. That was before I had children.
If you want to test your patience, pull up to a drive-thru window and wait for the long pause while your children ponder their snack decisions.

Now, keep in mind they have been to the said drive-thru at least a hundred times, and they know the menu forward and back, but that does not stop them from taking their jolly time picking out the beverage of choice. In these moments, I realize I am not as laid back and chill as I thought I was.

My children suffer from Paralysis of Analysis; the menu can overwhelm them and cause them to not know how to make a decision. We live in a day and age where we can have information overload. Try typing into your Google search Bible Studies, and you will soon realize it is not as simple as just picking one out. If we are not careful, we can be so overwhelmed we don’t know where to start.

James 1:6-8 says, but when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7 That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. 8 Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.

While it can be overwhelming and a bit daunting to know which Bible translation to read or which Bible study is right for you. Start by picking up the Bible you already have and start reading it. Pick a topic you want to study, pick out a book, and start reading! Make a decision and trust God will guide you.
