Treasure Chests
Pastor Chris Wood
I was recently watching a sermon for a class I am taking on leadership. In the sermon, the Pastor had a treasure chest, and he began to describe how every one of us has a treasure chest of life experiences that can be used to invest in others. The question becomes, does my treasure chest have anything worth sharing?
So today, I have a few questions about your treasure chest of life experiences.
Could you share about your marriage? You might think you have an average marriage or have been divorced. What can I share with other couples? I promise you that your marriage is a bag mixed with tough days, good days, and bad days. A younger couple would greatly benefit from a marriage that has withstood the test of time or even the difficulty of divorce. Find a couple and break bread with them.
Could you share about your finances? You might think, “I am not Dave Ramsey; I don’t have money saved; I am in debt.” Be encouraged that you would be the exact person who should share. You have experiences in life’s toughest days and good days. You have so much you can offer.
You don’t know how much you know about finances until you talk to a 19-year-old just starting to spread their wings and fly.
Galatians 1:10 says “For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ”.
The comparison of others stops us from investing in people because we feel like we don’t have much to offer. I promise you. You do. Open your treasure chest of life experiences and begin to share it with people.
