He did it! No, she did it!
By: Pastor Chris Wood
Some of the most peaceful times in Meredith and I’s marriage can also be some of the most stressful. I am referring to going on long road trips. Both Meredith and I have a coffee in hand, and our kids are resting and playing nicely in the back of our SUV. Ohhh how we love those road trips! However those long drives are few and far between. Usually Meredith and I are playing detective trying to figure out why insults are flying and threats of “you're not my brother or sister anymore” are flying around.
What we discover is that the other person is 100% positive that the other person started it. After some time investigating what we finally get to the truth, the fight started earlier in the day when the other sibling did not allow for the other siblings to play with the Nintendo Switch before we left on the road trip.
When our children hold onto grudges it can boil over into larger fights and arguments. One phrase we use in our house ALL THE TIME, is we tell our children to “be kind, and to forgive and move forward.”
In Matthew 18: 21-22 it says the following: Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?” Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.
Today as you start out your day, allow grace for yourself and those around you. Even if someone says something against you or tries to get under your skin, be kind, forgive and move forward .
