Power in Your Testimony

Week 9: August 13th
Power In Your Testimony
By: Briley Haggard

This last Sunday Pastor Chris preached on the power of our testimonies. He used the example of Peter.  Peter’s story has a vast amount of wisdom to gain from but the passages that he focused on were centered around Peter’s betrayal toward Jesus. It’s safe to say Peter was ashamed of his decision to exclaim to Jesus that he loved Him yet still deny that he even knew Him.

With that being said, we all fail. We all have something in our testimony that we probably aren't very proud of. In my life, although I’ve only been around for 19 years, I’ve already experienced things that I am ashamed to share.  What I’ve learned though is through others sharing what they’re ashamed of in their testimony, I know I’m not alone in it and there is hope.

1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” So… when you repent, don’t be ashamed of your sin because the God of both heaven and earth has forgiven you. Not only did God forgive our sins but he also forgets them, Jeremiah 31:34.

The last thought that I want to leave you to think about is found in Ephesians 3:20. Paul tells us that God is at work in us and through us to do things “immeasurably more than we can think or imagine.” God uses us and our testimonies to reach other’s lives. Whether we feel we are brave enough to share it or not we need to push those feelings aside. Remember it’s not through our power but God’s power through us that our testimonies change lives.

Have a blessed day!
