I Want to Know Him
By: Pastor Todd
I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, to attain the resurrection from the dead.
Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
-Philippians 3:10-14 NIV
It would be hard to describe just how much Paul suffered for the gospel. There had to be many days he just wanted to quit- or even die. Everywhere he went he faced stiff opposition, outright rejection and bodily risk. How did he keep going? The power to press on came from the resurrection of Jesus.
Choose your adjective for what you are facing right now. Discouragement, pain, exhaustion, or maybe even full-blown attack. If you are tempted to question if you are even going to make it through, reflect back just five days when we celebrated the greatest event in world history. The power that brought that resurrection about is living inside of you.
So don’t step into today with dread or weary resignation. Face this day with the knowledge that you have Holy Spirit power to live for Christ and change the world today!
