God Gets It.
By: Pastor Amie
“This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin. So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most” -Hebrews 4:15–16 NLT
Jesus is both fully God and fully man. He is the God who gets ‘it’. Whatever your ‘it’ this Christmas season is. With all its sin, pain, and brokenness, He came into our world. Jesus went through emotions and had experiences just like you and I do. He experienced temptation, joy, grief, and anger.
He laughed with his disciples. He wept over His friends. He obeyed His Mother, and He was tempted by the enemy. He flipped tables. He spoke peace. He drew lines in the sand, and He gave hope at a well. He faced judgment by the religious. He was mocked by the crowd. He was worshiped by the hopeful, and He was adored by the healed.
He is aware of our feelings and experiences; He is not apathetic to them. He's lived through them. In the middle of whatever you’re facing today, Jesus can genuinely respond, "I get it.” Yet, He did not sin within any of it. He is both God and Man. Perfect in every way. So let us boldly come to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find his grace when we need it most.
