Taking Up Your Cross Daily
By: Pastor Shane Beauvais

Taking up your cross daily is often narrowly defined as the refusal of something desired. Although true, taking up your cross goes much deeper.

Taking up your cross DAILY begins with self-denial and should lead us to surrender and servanthood. Self-denial, Surrender, Servanthood. Maybe a better way to cross examine how we define taking up our cross can be explored through James 1:22.

“Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.”

In our daily interactions, especially when life gets tough, when relationships are challenging and our hearts burdened, what does self-denial mean? What becomes apparent that requires a complete surrender? Not merely listening to what the word says, but actually DOING. Taking up your cross DAILY begins with self-denial that leads to surrender in humility and servanthood.
