“Let me say this, then, speaking for the Lord: Live no longer as the unsaved do, for they are blinded and confused. Their closed hearts are full of darkness; they are far away from the life of God because they have shut their minds against him, and they cannot understand his ways. They don’t care anymore about right and wrong and have given themselves over to impure ways. They stop at nothing, being driven by their evil minds and reckless lusts.” Ephesians 4:17-19 TLB

Imagine if I called you up and invited you to join me for a special trip to Myrtle Beach to enjoy some good BBQ and hang out at the beach. I arrive at your door, load your stuff into my car and we begin our adventure. We cross over into Virginia and get to I-95 where I take the onramp to head North towards D.C.  I have no map; no navigational system and I’ve never been there before. You ask me how I intend to get there, and I say I’m just going to take turns whenever I feel like it. Would you feel comfortable remaining in the vehicle with me?

I think most of us would feel very uncomfortable and unsafe with this type of scenario. However, when it comes to the matter of morality, some of us are all too happy to follow the lead of others without seeing what proof they have to back up their claims. The overall opinion is that if it makes you feel happy and if it’s not directly hurting anyone, then you should be able to follow whatever desires and appetites you feel in the moment.

The Bible warns us about the ways of the world and gives us a clear understanding of right versus wrong. God’s Word is not a rule book of don’ts – it is the account of how much God loves us along with guidance to help us live fulfilling and meaningful lives. The Word will get you to exactly where you need to go and in the right timing.

Has the Holy Spirit been nudging you about something? I encourage you today to pause and reflect on that area of your life. Spend some time in genuine prayer and Bible study about it. I promise you won’t regret it.
