Killing Me Softly Devotional Series – Week 3 – Blaming – Thursday - Pastor Mark White
Who Do We blame?
1 Samuel 30:6 (NIV)
“David was greatly distressed because the men were talking of stoning him; each one was bitter in spirit because of his sons and daughters. But David found strength in the Lord his God.”
You left the stove on too long, and now dinner is burned. You are on your way out the door, and your dog runs between your legs and escapes outside, and now you will be late.
When troubles come, how do you react? Do you look for something or someone to blame?
David's men did. Their homes had been attacked, their wives and children kidnapped, and they wanted justice. Naturally, they accused their leader, David. The man they followed, and, on whose watch, they lost everything. David himself was heartbroken and worried. But unlike everyone else, David sought comfort in the Lord.
David prayed to God and received the courage to hunt down the people who had taken all their families. But, in the end, not one thing was missing from all that was stolen from David and his 600 men. God proved His faithfulness by giving them victory through a terrible struggle.
It is easy to blame circumstances or people in our lives when things go wrong. But we cannot change the past. A better strategy is to seek God, move forward, and find a solution.
Instead of delivering you from the demanding season you are in; God might be delivering you through it!
Pray with me:
Heavenly Father, we pray for your grace to accept responsibility and seek you for a solution when life does not go as planned. In Jesus' name, Amen.
