God’s Got This
By: Pastor Amie Donovan
God’s got this.
The hardest month of the year for a youth pastor must be June. It is a month we find ourselves overfilled with joy and overcome with sadness. After years of walking beside our students, we must say goodbye to Sunday nights together and pass the baton off. We hand them over to RAs, professors and mentors of tomorrow as we watch each student turn the tassel of yesterday. We often give them a journal and encourage them to record their thoughts and experiences within them. Almost every time, on the front page, I write this passage on wisdom:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.
Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.” -Proverbs 3:5-6 NLT
College is a weird phase of life. Especially the first year. You learn to cook ramen in a microwave and learn to navigate relationships and freedom, and all without daily parental guidance. Sometimes you feel like you must figure everything out on your own. I mean, that’s part of growing up, right? You put so much effort into figuring things out for yourself that as a result, your thoughts often begin to wander and your faith can start to dwindle. Excitement meets exhaustion and faith meets a mental challenge. What do ye do when you don’t know what to do?
To my students reading this devotional, I hope you open your journal to page one and remember. When you don’t know what to do, you can rest in the reality you don’t have to know everything. Simply seek God's will in all you do, and He will make your path straight in His time. You remain obedient, and God will remain faithful.
Wisdom is knowing God’s got it even what you cannot understand.
