Family Tree Devotional Series - Week 2 – Love - Monday – Pastor Chris
The Spring of PURE LOVE
Scripture Reading — Isaiah 12:2-3 (NASB) and John 7:37-38 (NASB)
“Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; For the Lord God is my strength and song, And He has become my salvation.” Therefore you will joyously draw water from the springs of salvation.”
“Now on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.’”
During the Feast of Sukkot, the Jewish people took part in a water drawing ceremony on the feast's last day. They would go down to the Pool of Siloam, draw water, and bring it to the Temple Mount. Then they would pour out the water and recite Isaiah 12, "and with joy, you shall draw water out of the wells (springs) of salvation." In Hebrew, the word salvation and Yeshua (Jesus, in Hebrew) are the same.
Imagine the scene at the time of Jesus making his appearance at the Feast of Sukkot. It is likely that amid this ceremony, He stood up and proclaimed, "If anyone is thirsty, let Him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me as the Scripture said, ‘From His innermost being shall flow rivers of living water.’"
The promise and hope of Christmas is the coming of the Messiah, the flowing river of salvation that only comes from Jesus Christ. Claim the Christmas promise today! Claim the fullness of life in Him, the peace that passes all understanding, the pure joy that only Christ can give, and finally draw from His well of PURE LOVE.
Draw all that you need, but to draw from Him, you must go to Him. You cannot draw water from a pure love spring unless one goes to the Pure Love Spring. The Wise Men and Shepherds came to the living water that flowed from Jesus. They went to the spring that never runs dry. Be like the Wise Men and the Shepherds this Christmas season; go to the spring of Jesus, who is Pure Love.
