The Daily Choice

November 27th
The Daily Choice
By: Nicole Goddard

My family is currently in a season that feels a bit like Moses' wilderness. We aren't sure how long things are going to take and we aren't aware of what curves and humps lie in the path. There are multiple opinions on what to do and what not to do and there are days when our faith feels stronger than ever mixed with days when our faith feels as small as a mustard seed.

Its been so reassuring to go through this sermon series on Exodus during this time. Moses' daily choice to follow the Lord on the Israelites journey to the promise land is inspiring. He fielded regular ungrateful complaints from the people, had to walk in directions that may not have felt completely right and he didn't know for sure what lie ahead. Through it all, he fixed his gaze on the Lord ahead of him, regularly meeting with him and listening to him.

We don't have a pillar of fire and smoke to follow like Moses did. However, we do have the power of the Holy Spirit within us to lead us through times of uncertainty. Before Jesus ascended into heaven he told the disciples:

"It is not for you to know times or periods that the Father has set by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." Acts 1:7

May we make the daily choice like Moses did to choose faith over fear. To lean on the power of the Spirit when our circumstances feel overwhelming. To trust the Father’s timing and plans for our lives above all.
