Redemption

Redemption

Have you ever been in a drive-thru line and experienced the person in front of you paying for your coffee or food? This has happened to me once, and what fun it was to be a part of the chain of kindness that extended throughout that drive-thru line.

Realistically, you don’t get in the drive-thru line unless you have enough money to pay your bill. But there is beauty in knowing that each person’s total owed is different – and it doesn’t matter – because it’s the kindness that’s being paid forward, not the amount. There is grace, if you will, to cover what another person owes. And that kindness has the power to change a person’s outlook for a few moments, perhaps even for their entire day.

Jesus, through the riches of His grace, demonstrated His kindness toward us with eternal impact. Each of us has racked up a bill of our own – a sin debt. We don’t have enough cash in our pockets to pay the bill, and we can’t earn our way out of it. But Jesus. Our Passover Lamb, our Savior, our Redeemer, paid it all through His blood. He IS enough. He is WORTHY. And He said, “I’ll cover this.”

Ephesians 1:7 says, “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace.” He paid the bill so that we can have Life. His blood covers our sins. Debt paid in full. Redemption. Worthy is the Lamb Who was slain!
