It Is A Marathon
By: Pastor Todd
In the Venice Marathon of 2017, the lead pack of six runners was nearing the finish, but mistook a motorcycle for their guide and ended up way off course. The result was that a local runner, Italian Eyob Faniel, who wasn’t with that lead group, managed to stay on course, and ended up winning. Everyone in that hometown crowd celebrated again that staying on track is everything!
From the depths of a dreary prison, you can hear the joy in Paul’s voice as he writes to Timothy:
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day.” (II Timothy 4:7)
This last weekend at church we were reminded of the life of Moses, who stayed on track to the very end. He proved it can be done when you live with a determined, humble heart. Sadly, we know too many stories of Christians who were running a good race, but found themselves chasing the wrong things and ended up off course. Which will be your story?
