Enough for Everyone
I was at a dinner party recently and as I walked through the line for the dinner buffet, I noticed these beautiful bite-sized desserts set out on tiered shelves. The display was gorgeous, and the desserts looked delicious. Small plates with a variety of rich, decadent, scrumptious looking mini cakes, mousses, eclairs, and the like. Unfortunately, I took my dinner plate to my seat and completely missed the opportunity to try one – by the time I returned to peruse the chocolatey goodness, they had all been taken.
I’m so thankful that in the Kingdom of God, there is enough for everyone. Specifically, enough of the most important and necessary thing – God’s Grace. His favor that invites us into His presence and into relationship with Him. That which we can never earn or deserve. We don’t have to horde it, holding some in reserve “just in case” and we don’t have to worry that we’ll miss out if someone else takes the portion we want or need. The vastness of His grace is sufficient for each of us – enough that we can celebrate it in our own lives and celebrate when others receive it as well.
Psalm 103:11-12 says, “For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him, as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.”
These are the dimensions of His grace. Immeasurable. The One who turned the water into wine so the guests at the party would have enough and fed a multitude with 5 loaves and 2 fish, will never run out of Grace for those who come to Him in need of it. That’s worth celebrating!
